We received good advice on the choice of wines, and the explanations during the booking process were well done.
A warm welcome and very friendly staff.
TV that doesn't stay on the wall. Poor Wi-Fi, so no TV all evening. The reception staff didn't seem to mind. Exorbitant price for what you get. Poorly insulated room. Conclusion: terrible
Too expensive, outdated and very damp rooms with mold.
Excellent location. Good ambiance with nice veiws over the water and to the ferry landing and the fortress walls.
It's a shame that this hotel, which benefits from a historic site and an exceptional location, offers such poor quality of service.

Difficulties for people with reduced mobility: no stool in the bathroom. Many inclined planes in the corridors and on the terrace to get around the pool. An elevator would be welcome. Otherwise, the service is very satisfactory.

Good welcome and services. Good food but finish and decoration not at hotel level..example Dining room table peeling off, old paint in places
Your hotel is in a beautiful setting; the rooms are well renovated and the bedding is very good. However, the rooms are seriously lacking in soundproofing. In fact, we were woken up by our roommates who were only talking loudly (you could hear what they were saying clearly). The breakfast is well stocked with sweet and savory items, which is appreciated. The evening meal was very good, you can thank the chef. But we would have appreciated enjoying our aperitif more before being served our starter.

Zeer slecht en zeer vuil hotel. Stof van 1 cm op de kast, lakens vuil. Tijdens het ontbijt 5 borden moeten nemen om 1 proper bord te vinden. Confituur met schimmel en chemische omelet. Muren met vocht en versleten matras. Een schande voor een driesterrenhotel. 135 euro voor een kamer met stof en schimmels en vuil bed, 15 euro voor een zeer slecht ontbijt. En niet eens een commerciële geste van het hotel. 150 eur weggegooid geld. Jammer voor het mooie kader.
The room we were allocated (112) was dusty, the toilet seat wasn't holding, the TV was broken... After complaining to reception, we changed rooms, the room was finally clean and the TV worked, however in the bathroom, one cardboard cup for 2, the hairdryer holder collapsed leaving the electrical wires exposed.... Our opinion, small room and toilet in the bathroom, no box of Kleenex for a 3 star hotel and a price of 162 euros, which does not correspond at all to the service.

I would use this hotel again but source my meals elsewhere. Gourmet prices are charged for dinner which is merely average and not justified and breakfast was a matter of searching everywhere for everything as no staff present. The hot food at breakfast was in fact just tepid. This, and no help offered with luggage, although a lady cleaner offered, affected my ratings

Arriving solo, I was very well received and helped in booking excursion tickets.
As customers for several years, we have noticed a deterioration in the maintenance of the hotel buildings (interior and exterior) and a drop in the range, at the same prices, of the restaurant.

It is like a little Paradise!
Lovely location and the view from the room and restaurant are amazing. The bed was ok, not great. The hotel is expensive but everywhere within the Citadelle is, and maybe that is to be expected. The staff were all lovely, reception, restaurant, bar, housekeeping. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the prices.

Excellent séjour. Literie parfaite. Personnel très aimable et attentif. Un seul petit bémol est qu’il manque un fauteuil dans la chambre pour n’être pas obligé d’être uniquement sur le lit, pour lire par exemple ou tout simplement faire une pause. C’est un détail mais qui a son importance pour que tout soit au top .
The room was not clean, especially under the bed and under the bedside tables (dust and dead bedbugs). Insects in the bed. Very bad smell in the room. Broken mirror in the bathroom. Very noisy.
Stained towels, dusty room, hair in the shower, smelly toilet, shoes and bag floating in the pool... That's a lot for a night at €150. When we checked out, we checked whether we had paid or not and we weren't asked how we felt about the night we had spent. Honestly, at that price, I wouldn't go back. Luckily, the setting is very nice.
In this privileged place of Blaye, I think there is no better... congratulations to the chef and his team. (4 meals tasted anyway).. the environment is very pleasant.. a clear improvement concerning the noise in the morning would be quite easy by removing the bellboys from the doors, and discussing with the bio cleaning staff who really start very early.. I do not regret my stay

Lovely location, accommodation pretty basic but ok. Staff very accommodating but think there is some training required. All would have been fine for us except breakfast. We came down to breakfast after walking our dog, the room was empty of other people but there appeared to be an ok buffet option laid out or so we thought until closer inspection. Flies had beat us to breakfast and there was no way that we were going to eat anything, the ham and cheese laid was covered in flies. Astonishing that no one had the foresight to provide covers for the food. The location is by an estuary and flies are to be expected, but being expected to eat food that had been laid out with flies covering what we were expected to eat was not acceptable. The coffee machine was out of order so had to wait for our coffees which was ok, but when you put everything together is was below an acceptable standard and experience. Our complaint to reception upon departure was very clear so it was a complete surprise when we examined our bill that we had been charged for breakfast. By this stage we were on route so did not head back, but we are expecting a refund

Amazing little Gem in Blaye. What a great hotel. The how’s are incredible. The rooms are clean modern and very comfortable. The pool is an huge bonus for it sunny days. All the staff are friendly and can’t do enough for you. Our waiter Ian was so amazing. He really looked after us and never said no to any requests.

What a shame that a member of staff came to spoil the stay. By telling us to leave the hotel after having returned our room. And being very surprised that her colleagues allowed us to stay by the pool. Never has a hotel refused us to be able to enjoy the pool especially since we were planning to have lunch with tapas this blonde person in her condition does not make us want to come back to your establishment. As for the management of the maintenance of the pool. I do not understand that your employee throws 40 liters of chlorine at 12 p.m. when the robot has been running since the morning. So no pool on the day of departure and the day before because of the storm, the pool was very dirty. You will understand that your employee's remark bothers us!
We discovered your hotel quite by chance and had a wonderful evening.
Completely satisfied, only regretting the lack of handrails on the stairs, which would have been a great help given our age. The restaurants were top-notch, not to mention the breakfast. We will definitely be back.

Following a major storm, there was no hot water or TV. The owner made a much-appreciated gesture of goodwill: she halved the room rate.

Very nice hotel in a magnificent setting.
Nous venons dans cet hôtel depuis environ 20 ans lorsqu'il était indépendant. Nous y avons séjourné deux fois lors de ce voyage lors de notre voyage aller-retour. Comme c'était hors saison, c'était très calme, le petit-déjeuner devait être commandé à l'avance avec un choix limité (le petit-déjeuner avait toujours été un aspect positif dans le passé). Le repas du soir était un triomphe des aspirations du chef sur sa capacité à livrer. Une utilisation excessive de la sous-vie ne compense pas une bonne cuisine, lourde avec les sauces et aucun respect pour la préparation des légumes, une baisse sévère des normes. Lors de notre visite de retour, les toilettes de notre chambre ne fonctionnaient pas et la couette n'était pas propre, montrant un manque de contrôle et de préparation. On nous a donné une autre chambre au rez-de-chaussée avec vue sur la piscine fermée plutôt que sur l'estuaire. Pas de gel douche, les serviettes étaient de petits articles non moelleux datant des années 1970. Les chambres ont maintenant l'air fatiguées et sales et ont besoin d'une rénovation totale pour les remettre aux normes. Aujourd'hui, des choses comme du thé et du café, une boîte de mouchoirs, des produits de toilette décents, des serviettes de bonne qualité, des informations locales et plus d'une petite bouteille d'eau plate devraient être et sont dans la plupart des endroits, la norme. Nous n'avons pas mangé à l'intérieur le soir du retour car c'était le même menu. On nous a fait payer cher la chambre et le petit déjeuner, un prix qui ne reflète pas le forfait proposé. La Citadelle doit aller de l'avant et évoluer avec son temps. Encore un petit déjeuner sans inspiration. Nous aimons le quartier et la situation de l'hôtel mais nous avons déménagé et n'y retournerons pas.
